We haven't seen anything like this in 62 years! Cooper is stepping up to the 1500m — and the records in his way are trembling.

62 years ago, Jim Ryun set the under-18 record for the 1500m of 3:39.0.  This is the longest-standing major American youth record. At the time, Ryun was a 17-year-old high school junior, the same as Cooper right now. On May 23rd, that record is likely toast.

Cooper will also take a shot at Hobbs Kessler's American U20 record of 3:34.36.  Many track pundits think that record may be out of reach for now, but not everyone is so sure. Cooper's recent 1:42.47 in the 800m is the fastest under-18 mark in the history of the World and the 4th fastest US time of any age ever.

Early-bird pricing is ending!

If Cooper does break Hobbs' mark, it will not officially count as the high school record.  Since he has recently turned Pro with Nike, he's no longer considered a high schooler - even though he attends Northwest High School in Justin, Texas, where his Mom is the Principal. Nonetheless, he would possess the World Under-20 record.

Cooper is the real deal - a true generational phenom, and this race is likely to be historic for the 17-year-old.  Don't miss it.
